Yala Safari & Galle Overnight Two Days Tour

This two-day excursion encompasses all the quintessential experiences you’d anticipate in Sri Lanka, from wildlife conservation centers to ancient religious sites. Galle Fort, designated as a UNESCO World Heritage Site, is a captivating labyrinth of streets with a rich history dating back to the Dutch colonial period. You’ll also have the chance to tour the Kosgoda turtle hatchery, a hub for sea turtle conservation. Witnessing the age-old tradition of stilt fishing, known for its Instagram-worthy moments, is another cultural highlight. Additionally, you’ll have an opportunity to explore the Weherahena Viharaya temple, adorned with a colossal Buddha statue.

 

Over the course of two days, you’ll embark on an exhilarating safari within Yala National Park, where your 4×4 vehicle will navigate the grasslands in search of wildlife, including sloth bears, leopards, and crocodiles. Lastly, your journey will lead you to the Udawalawe elephant transit camp, where you can observe the feeding of elephant calves and gain insights into their reintegration into the wild.

 

This tour operates on a Half Board (H/B) basis, providing comfortable accommodations with scenic views, along with inclusive transportation and the services of English and German-speaking guides. Jeep safari fees and all entrance charges are also part of the package.

Day 1 - Galle & Southern Part of Sri Lanka

Turtle Hatchery

Your day begins with a pick-up from your hotel at 8:30 a.m., and your journey takes you to Yala. Along the way, you’ll have the opportunity to visit the Kosgoda Sea Turtle Hatchery, a vital conservation site for sea turtles in Sri Lanka. Here, you can witness the preservation efforts in action, including the protection of sea turtle eggs taken from beaches. The hatchery plays a significant role in the conservation of this endangered species.

Following your visit to the hatchery, you’ll continue to your hotel in Sigiriya for check-in, embarking on the next phase of your adventure.

Galle Dutch Fort

Continuing on your journey, you’ll arrive in Galle, where you’ll explore the historic Galle Dutch Fort. Originally constructed in 1588 by the Portuguese, this fort is a remarkable testament to the region’s diverse and colorful history. Stilt Fisherman

They enter the water with their fishing poles, implant them into the seabed, and then maintain their balance by perching on a crossbar attached to the pole. Begin your day with an early morning safari at Yala National Park, an exhilarating experience in the region known as the dry zone, where rain primarily falls during the monsoon season. This park is home to a diverse range of wildlife, including leopards, elephants, crocodiles, and a plethora of bird species. Yala National Park is particularly renowned for its leopard population, making it a unique destination to observe these elusive wild cats. It’s also an excellent place to witness herds of elephants as they roam the landscape.

Following your adventurous safari, you’ll return to your hotel, where you’ll check out and continue with your journey.

Udawalawe Elephant Transit Home

Next, you’ll drive to the Elephant Transit Home, a sanctuary where orphaned baby elephants are nurtured after being rescued from the wild. Your visit is perfectly timed for feeding, allowing you to watch the adorable little elephants bottle-feed from a viewing platform just meters away.
